Two ways in: the chef, or the directory

If you already know whose cooking you want, go to their page and press Enquire — that opens that chef’s own diary. For everything else, the directory reads its mail on weekdays.

Got a chef in mind?

Every listing ends with an Enquire cue. It opens a fresh tab straight into that chef’s diary, where you put down the date, the headcount and the suburb and hear back from the person who will actually be cooking.

Not sure yet, or it’s something else?

Write to the directory when you would rather a steer on who suits, when the table runs past twenty, when the address is a holiday let we have not covered, or when the question is not about a booking at all.

What a quick answer looks like

A chef quotes a table they can picture. The whole message can be one line — this one would get a menu back the same day:

“Hi — Saturday the 14th or the 21st, eight of us in Coogee, one coeliac, my dad’s 70th, somewhere around A$150 a head. Who would you send?”

A date or two · how many · which suburb · what the table can’t eat · the occasion, and a figure if you have one

The figure matters more than people think: with a number a chef pitches the right menu first time instead of the second.

Cook in Sydney and want on the book?

The directory stays short on purpose and adds a chef only when a cuisine or a corner of the city is under-served. Listing is free and by invitation, and three things are non-negotiable:

  • You cook in guests’ kitchens under your own name, and there is a menu we can read.
  • Your guests have written about it, with dates, somewhere we can quote them as written.
  • You quote one figure a head, and nothing turns up on the bill after it.

Send a sample menu, where in Sydney you cook, and where your reviews live to the address above.
